SDORP: SDN Based Opportunistic Routing for Asynchronous Wireless Sensor Networks

In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), it is inappropriate to use conventional unicast routing due the broadcast storm problem and spatial diversity of communication-links. Opportunistic-Routing (OR) benefits low duty-cycled WSNs by prioritizing multiple candidates for each node instead selecting one as in unicast-routing. OR reduces sender waiting time, but also suffers from duplicate packets waking up simultaneously. The number should be restricted counterbalance between time packets. this paper, software-defined networking (SDN) adapted flexible management allowing decoupling control plane nodes. This study presents SDN-based load-balanced opportunistic-routing that addresses two parts. First, are computed controlled plane. Second, metric used prioritize considers average three distributions, transmission distance distribution, expected hops distribution residual energy so more traffic guided through nodes with higher priority. Simulation results show our proposed protocol significantly improve network lifetime, efficiency, consumption, compared benchmarks.
